Does Atlantic Records Artists Own Their Masters?

After conducting a search on Google, it appears that Atlantic does not provide their artists with a way to own their masters if they want to do so.

However, some artists may have provisions in their contracts that make it easier for them to be able to obtain their masters if that is the case.

As far as we know at this point, we won't be able to verify the information until both parties make it public.

Why Is Kodak Black Encouraging Artists to Sign With Atlantic Records?

Up-and-coming artists are encouraged to sign with Atlantic Records by Kodak Black.

However, rappers like NBA YoungBoy and Meek Mill don’t feel the same way since they were having issues with the label in the past.

NBA YoungBoy accused Atlantic Records CEO of blackballing him because they were not releasing his music. Youngboy suggests not to sign to Atlantic if you are an artist because they are not going to support you if you live a certain way.

Meek Mill, on the other hand, accused Atlantic Records of foul play with his contract not releasing music.

How Do You Get Signed to Atlantic Records?

contact signing

Getting signed to Atlantic Records requires exceptional music talent, a large fan base, a bit of luck, and of course, a strong social media presence.

In recent years, album sales have dropped dramatically due to streaming sites and online music hubs. It is therefore common in labels to search for artists with established fanbases or at least, a commendable social media presence to select artists for their labels.

An artist wishing to get signed to Atlantic Records (or any other top record label) needs to have a minimum of $500,000 (in liquid assets) or hundreds of thousands of social media followers in order to be considered for a chance to be discovered.

Talent, however, remains irreplaceable. It is only a matter of time before a durable record label offers you a contract if you are talented and produce captivating songs. It's simpler to take your songs to them rather than wait for them.

If you want to be signed to Atlantic Records or any other record label, the secret is simple. It is enough to put yourself in front of your chosen record label(s), and if the song(s) you want to record is exceptional, no label would turn you away and allow you to sign with another label.

Is Jason Derulo Signed to Atlantic Records?

The company announced in 2021 that Jason Derulo had signed with Atlantic Records.

A deal between Atlantic and Derulo's Future History label will also continue a partnership between the labels, as Future History released “Lifestyle,” Derulo's most recent single featuring Adam Levine, a member of Maroon 5.

APG released Derulo's single “Take You Dancing” through Atlantic last summer, but the singer has now officially signed a deal with the label after releasing the track.
