Shiflett joined the band at first as a touring guitarist before becoming a full-time member before the fourth album's recording.

Grohl released the album under his new label, Roswell Records, after licensing it to Capitol Records .

On February 23, 1995, at the Jambalaya Club in Arcata, California, the Foo Fighters made their live debut in front of an audience.

They next played at Satyricon in Portland on March 3 and the Velvet Elvis in Seattle on March 4. But they also switched from Capitol Records to RCA Records.

For their “Learn to Fly” music video, the Foo Fighters earned their first Grammy Award in 2000. Since then, they have won 10 more.

These include three prizes for Best Hard Rock Performance for the songs “All My Life,” “The Pretender,” and “White Limo,” as well as four Grammys in the category of Best Rock Album for the albums There Is Nothing Left to Lose, One by One, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, and Wasting Light. Additionally, the group won three Kerrang! Awards.

The group's “Walk” video won Best Rock Video at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. In 2011 and 2014, they were named Radio Contraband Major Label Artist of the Year. The group won Album of the Year and Song of the Year for “Something from Nothing,” respectively.

At the 54th Annual Grammy Awards held in February 2012, the band was nominated for six Grammy Awards: Album of the Year, Best Rock Performance, Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Album, and Best Long Form Music Video (for Back and Forth).

They took home five of the six awards, with Adele taking home the Album of the Year prize.
