Music Video Contract

Let me guess, you are ready to hire somebody for a music video? Or maybe you are a music video producer preparing to take on clients? Either way, you will need a contract! This contract is designed to protect both parties involved in the music video production process.

What Is a Music Video Contract?

A music video contract is a legal agreement between a recording artist and a music video production company. The contract outlines the terms and conditions of the production, including payment, rights, and ownership. It is important to have a music video contract in place to avoid any confusion or disputes down the road.

What Should Be Included in A Music Video Contract?

A music video contract should include:

  • the rights to the song
  • the artist's agreement to make the video
  • the budget for the video
  • and who will own the rights to the finished product
  • It should also detail what happens if either party breaches the contract.

These are just some basic things that should be included in a music video contract. Many people do not feel like they need a contract, however, so many issues can and do arise without one.

If you are working with a professional team, they will likely have a contract for you to sign. If not, it is strongly advised that you create your own or at least have a lawyer look over any contract before you sign it.
