Since 1999, the Family Law Self-Help Center has provided assistance to the neighborhood. The Clark County courts and the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada collaborate to run the center. Through a contract with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, the center is run and staffed.
By offering education, information, legal forms, community referrals, and other support services to self-represented parties with family law concerns in Clark County, Nevada, regardless of income, assets, or citizenship, the center aims to enhance informed access to the legal system.
The staff is unable to offer legal counsel. The staff cannot advise you on whether or not to file a case, what to file, who to hire as an attorney or law firm, or predict the outcome of your case. They also cannot speak to a judge on your behalf and cannot advise you on the language to use in court documents or during a hearing. The Self-Help Center personnel is also required to maintain their impartiality. Any information disclosed by a guest at the center is not confidential or protected by the attorney-client privilege.
